KNEURO 4B – Update on the Sales Situation
Dear Business Partners,
here at the Wilhelm Julius Teufel GmbH we are committed to our corporate values: trust, respect, integrity and teamwork. We take these values seriously and live by them every day.
In addition to this, we trust in the rule of law, which we get to experience and appreciate every day in Germany and the EU. Thus, we explicitly support the right to hold patents and trademarks, and to defend them.
We have registered numerous patents and trademarks ourselves and do so out of conviction. Defending intellectual property is the logical consequence resulting from such a patent or trademark registration.
If disagreements between two or more parties concerning this matter cannot be solved extrajudicially, courts will decide. For us, it is therefore absolutely legitimate that Ottobock filed a motion with the Unified Patent Court in Düsseldorf in December 2025, seeking an order against us for a temporary sales stop of the Kneuro 4B by BrainRobotics based on the alleged use of a patent held by Ottobock. A product we have been selling in Germany since March 2025.
Of course, every corporation is free to choose their own style of communication. Regardless, we would have been open to an initial amicable attempt to clarify the situation by Ottobock, prior to the start of legal proceedings – an approach which Ottobock chose not to pursue.
On Thursday, May 7th, 2026, the court denied the motion filed by Ottobock. We are very happy to be able to continue to distribute the Kneuro 4B and will present it in the established manner at the OTWorld show in Leipzig. Ottobock may appeal the court’s decision. Yet, we are confident our case will also be upheld on appeal.
